Joanne T. Davis

Joanne T. Davis's career has spanned private industry, government and education, and in all of her roles, she was tasked with finding and implementing ways to improve organizational performance. At a major Maryland Bank, she established and led a new department responsible for the development of a corporate culture committed to the delivery of quality service and products to the bank's 300,000 customers. She continued and enhanced this role at Provident Bank of Maryland (now M & T Bank) as Director of Corporate Quality.

Ms. Davis directed human resources for Howard County Government where she implemented a public sector total quality process to focus the efforts of the employees on "the citizen as customer". Ms. Davis later joined the University of Maryland Center for Quality and Productivity, and as Manager of the Awards Program there, she administered the Baldrige-based U. S. Senate Productivity and Maryland Performance Excellence Awards for Maryland organizations in the manufacturing, service, health care, education, and public sectors.

Ms. Davis has served on a variety of community-based boards in a leadership capacity. A 1995 graduate of Leadership Howard County, she served on that Board until 2008, as Chair from 1999 to 2001, and was awarded the Distinguished Leadership and Distinguished Alumni Awards from the Leadership organization. Ms. Davis chaired Howard Community College's Commission on the Future from 2002 to 2007 and was recognized with an Honorary Associate of Arts Degree in 2007. She also served on the National Family Resiliency Center Board of Directors from 1996 to 2003, chairing that Board from 2000 to 2002. Ms. Davis currently serves on the boards of the Foundation Against HIV/AIDS in Africa and the Foundation for Human Development and on the Management Review Committee of The Columbia Foundation.
